True Christianity and Quasi-Christian cults

We are followers of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He is the way, the truth and the life. The only way to God. Most of us are evangelical Christians, for whom the Bible is the highest authority in our lives. We are convinced that the Bible should never be changed, only translated as closely as possible according to the original manuscripts. It's the Word of God.
Some groups of people, however, have changed the Bible by either taking away scripture or adding text. Some groups mislead by adding footnotes in their Bible versions, that not only refer to other parts of Scripture, but also include false doctrine. Those groups mislead people and present a wrong view of who God is and what He has done for mankind.
Therefore we need to warn international students against those quasi-Christian cults.

The first two movements listed below are the most dangerous deceiving movements, that are active among Chinese students.

Jehovah's Witnesses
These people of the Watchtower Society meeting in their Kingdom Halls have a doctrine based on their own (sometimes inaccurate) Bible translation, which is different from mainstream Christian doctrine. The main concern is their interpretation of the diety of Jesus. They claim that Jesus has NOT the same authority as God has. Because of that interpretation based on false translation, they miss the crucial point of salvation through Jesus.

A sharp analysis of the Jehovah's Witnesses sectarian doctrine can be found in John Ankerberg's book The Facts on Jehovah's Witnesses (2008). We recommend you to read this blog whenever you are or have been in contact with people of Jehovah's Witnesses, who are no Christians.

Church of the Almighty God/Eastern Lightning
This Chinese cult is dangerous. Not only in China they try to deceive people with their ideas about a female Christ and that the Bible is no more relevant, but also abroad in the United States and elsewhere.

Chinese be aware! Don't trap into such a group. Read here about their false teaching.

The Lord's Recovery/Local Church
This movement denigrates evangelical Christian denominations and organizations. Only people of the Local Church movement can be saved. The exclusivism of the Local Church divides the true Body of Christ and is therefore contrary to the Bible. They follow the doctrine of late Chinese preacher Witness Lee and they use their own Bible, called the Recovery Version of the Bible, which is loaded with footnotes to impose their doctrine on readers.

This group publishes their materials through an organization, called Living Stream Ministry. A analysis of their doctrine is given in this article.
