Your Choice
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 2 Peter 1:3
Notice that this verse is written in the past tense. It describes something that has already happened.
Whether it feels like it or not (and it probably doesn’t!), the Bible assures you that you already have absolutely everything you need to live a life that pleases God. As Freedom In Christ progresses, you will get the opportunity to take hold of your freedom in Christ, and learn how to overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil in order to keep growing towards maturity. God has given us the tools we need to live the Christian life in all its joyful and wonderful abundance, but ultimately it is up to us whether we choose to use them.
Take a moment today to consider the choices you can make. Are you ready to say “yes” to anything God asks you to do during the course, whether that’s turning away from sin, forgiving, recognizing where you have been deceived, choosing to believe truth, or anything else? If so, you might like to say the following prayer:
Father, Thank You that You have already given me everything I need to take hold of my freedom and live the Christian life well. I want to know the truth and live by it so that I can become all that You have created me to be. I choose to say “yes” to You today, and to do what You ask me to do as You give me the strength.
Please continue to reveal to me Your amazing truths and help me take responsibility for the choices I need to make so that I can overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil in my life and be free to be the amazing person You have created me to be. In Jesus' name. Amen.
