Freedom in Christ Course; day 69 Nugget
Committing To Unity
Conflict is a normal part of life, but it doesn’t need to be feared. Relationships won’t always be happy and harmonious – it’s how you handle those situations that matters.
We can be the person God created us to be no matter what other people and the world throw at us. Here’s the poem from the end of the last session:
People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest people with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest people with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for the underdog anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help, but may attack you if you help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you’ve got and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
Here’s a prayer you could use today to commit yourself to playing your part in walking in unity with your brothers and sisters in Christ:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You that You do not judge me and that Christ took the punishment that I deserved upon Himself so I would not have to. Thank You for Your love for me and that You discipline me to help me produce a harvest of righteousness and peace. Thank You that You help me learn to love others well even when they have done me wrong or when I have done others wrong. Thank You that in Christ I now have the opportunity to live at peace with everyone. I choose to commit to walk in unity with the body of Christ so that the world may know that you sent Jesus.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
