St John's Church, Gouda

History
The gothic St. John's church building was built from the 13th century. Around 1350 the tower was built. In 1485 the foundation was built for the present-day choir. This expansion made the church the longest in the Netherlands, with a length of 123 meters. After a fire in 1438 the church was rebuilt from 1485-1510 as a Roman Catholic church building. The Reformation took place in 1517. Thereafter, in 1573 the building was assigned to the Protestants. Until today protestant services are held twice a Sunday.
